The storm didn't keep me awake and surprisingly when I woke up the tent was not flooded. A couple of drips here and there but not like Leipzig where I was using the sponge to get the water out... I expect it is because it was under a big tree.

Top tip: Big trees can be useful.

It cant go on raining like this!

As it was due to rain by 10.00 am. again I packed up the tent and got on the road. Thankfully being a Saturday the traffic on the Bratislava ring road was quite quiet.

It's only a few miles to the Hungarian border which I soon crossed. Fortunately I had again pre-purchased (last night) a Vignette for the motorway as there was a big queue to buy at the first service station.

Then it rained.. and rained and I lost sight of the road. So I pulled over to the hard shoulder.. like everyone else for 5 minutes as the heavens opened. There was a couple of inches on the road. Biblical. Just send in the frogs.

As I knew the campsite I'm planning on going to in Budapest only took cash I stopped at some small town (off the motorway) and got hold of 100,000 Forints (the Hungarian currency). The campsite is very nice about 20 euros a night again with electricity. I benefit being a tent (cheaper than a van) and 1 person. but I get the same amount of space.

Even saw a table tennis table! It has a washing machine (well 6) so I'm washing tomorrow before I go out for the day.

Took the Brompton into Budapest in the afternoon\evening. Very nice.

Busy loads of marches on the go - it is Saturday I suppose. First time I've seen neo-Natzis up close (not a nice bunch). Small picture I'm not promoting them!

Stopped at Billys Bar to hopefully get a drink and some food but they stopped serving food so a beer of 885 Forints  broke a 20000 Forint note! They weren't happy...back to the campsite.

Quick recharge of the phone and the look for somewhere to eat (Google Maps is your friend).

This ended up being the restaurant in the Central European University (CEU) next door to the campsite (as we can use it). The CEU was founded by George Soros who was born in Budapest.

It tasted far better than it looks!

They didn't have a desert so I nipped to McDonalds and you cant just have a McFlurry so I had a cheese burger and fries and the McFlurry and a coke (not a curry).

Came back to the campsite suitable replenished!

One set of washing machine - all part of the 20 Euros a night.
