Boo taking them back to the airport.
Tidied the villa. I think it was cleaner than when we arrived.
Left the villa about 10.20 as needed to get to the airport for 12.
I dont like goodbyes so this was my short-stay parking ticket. Managed to get in drop them off, see them to security and get out in the free 20 minutes. The women in the booth wasn't impressed as she wanted some Euros.
Then headed over to Meteora. Its only 150 odd miles from Thessaloniki but once you are off the "motorways" you hit 25 to 30 miles an hour on average. Particularly when you get behind massive HGVs going up and down hills.
This may be why they are building a new motorway up the backbone of Greece from Athens to Meteora. The coast is quite well covered. This will take lots of tourists from Athens to Meteora very quickly.
Long drive and its getting hotter. Though the icecream I'd taken from the deep freeze survived until I stopped at a service station of the motorway.. it was 34C outside.
Camping Meteora Gardens has some shade and a fabulous pool as well as views of Meteora. It was 36c when I put the tent up. Boy was it hot! Found some shade under a fake hop tree (which shed sticky hops everywhere).
Took a bit longer than normal but as soon as it was finished I was in the pool to cool down. Pool came with a view.
Cold beer was needed afterwards!
Quick change. Then into Kalamara on the eBike to watch the Germany versus Hungary game. Went the wrong way and almost ended up on the new motorway they are building! Eventually found a bar in town with a big TV.
A few snacks were in order. The deep fried zucchini was lovely as were the cheese croquettes with a few added french fries.
As it got dark I cycled back to the campsite and was quickly in bed - a long day. Strangely I needed the duvet in the night!
