Well what an exciting day!
Woke up @6.30 am. as the sun was blazing through the tent door.
The tent was dry! Hurray!
I washed and shaved and packed away the tent (well bundled it in the back of the van). I think I've got it down to about 10 minutes to take down and 15 minutes to put up.
I wanted to fill-up with drinking water so drove round to the toilet block put the kettle on for a coffee and filled up with water.
Top tip: Always keep your drinking water bottle as full as possible you never know when you are going to need it!
Left Camping Arena Budapest about 8.30 am. and headed to Belgrade. The reception person kindly gave me a bottle of Hungarian wine as I left. Again ridiculously cheap less than 20 Euros a night.
I had more Forints left than I wanted so stopped at Keshemet to fill-up with Diesel. (40,000 Forints down).
Then went to Aldi across the road... bought beer/wine/food still not getting rid of enough!
As I got nearer to the Serbian border I stopped at Domassek and went to the Co-Op and bought more beer and wine. To not look like a total alcoholic I'm buying 6 or 8 cans and a bottle each time.... Still not used it all. I couldnt go back in the Co-Op so went to another supermarket across the road and bought more... left with a couple of quid in Forints.
I do have coffee and some other essentials for when we get to the villa in Thessaloniki. I didnt buy the radish juice though I was tempted...
After all this shopping I was fully loaded with beer and wine. Shouldn't be a problem at customs?
Hungarians want to check you out of the country. Serbians want to check you in.
Serbian customs don't have a clue. Queued for 40 minutes to get through, see passport, log book, V5, Insurance certificate, dog license (not really don't have a doggy). They did want to see inside the va. They went "oh" when I opened the van doors and I was soon on my way.
Thinking about it probably would have been better using my UK passport as they aren't in the EU either.
Sky Mobiledoesnt have a deal in Serbia so Mobile data is off and I'm heading onwards to Thessaloniki tomorrow.
Not sure how far I'll get but I'll keep going in that direction. The toll was 730 RSD or about £5.40
Arrived at Cap Dunav outside Belgrade at around 4.30 pm. Setup the tent by 5 pm. had some of the food I'd bought during the day then chatted to some mad Irishman for about an hour (his name wasnt Paul..)
Campsite is really nice. Toilet block exceptional.
Not going into Belgrade (will drive through tomorrow) been before (1980 - the year Tito died) it was a sh**hole.
Phoned Ludlow Family from the lounge area then went to bed.
